Our little Jack is getting bigger by the moment... We enjoyed celebrating his 1st Birthday on Wednesday, May 6, with Jack's Nonna and Papou, Aunt/Godmother Laura, Godfather Tim, awesome friend Dorian and Nanny extraordinaire Farida !! Nonna made her delicious meatball lasagna, stuffed eggplant and a yummy chocolate cake! ;) Thank you to ALL of you for the lovely gifts, emails and to those who sent cards and CUTE clothes (Pamela ! Mom and Dad Pilger!) Here are some photos and some updates: Jack is now 23 lbs, 4 ounces and 30 3/4 inches long ! (he looks taller) He has now eaten chocolate (enough for an army.) Jack walks like a pro... Well, a drunken pro who resembles frankenstein... But seriously, he's a great walker now and enjoys all of the ways in which this opens up his world...it's cute and also a bit more work, of course. Jack waves bye-bye in 3 ways, covers eyes for peek-a-boo, plays "nice-nice" (touching our faces very softly), claps at his own accomplishments (such as playing the keyboard), puts a ball into a hole, eats books, eats chunks of food (the man loves his dairy), climbs mountains of stairs, climbs down a few stairs, hands toys to mommy (sharing), kisses (open mouth press) and seems to now say MAMA and DADA in actual reference to us (rather than simply because they are fun to say.) He is SUCH a joy...strong, funny and sweet. Interestingly, he still does not suck his thumb or a pacifier at all. He also dresses like a KING!!! Thanks to everyone for all the birthday love. Kisses and drools, Faith, Al and Jack
NEW FOR 2009 Check out our new VIDEO section! Click the bottle labeled "MORE"
MARCH 2009 3/10/2009 4:20 P.M. Hi everyone...it's that time! Pictures and updates, oh my!!! Jack is now 10 months old...whew! He's "almost walking", as we say, since he just kind of stumbles a few steps or flings himself onto you. Mostly he crawls fast and "cruises" along the furniture. He's addicted to our small, white appleTV remote control, though really all remotes and phones really excite him. What else? 4 BIG teeth on top, 2 more on the bottom with 2 more almost in. Soon he'll really have chompers! He prefers his sweet foods over the more bland veggies but eats well in general. Last night he slept 12 hours straight, but I'm not gonna say he's sleeping well because I'd hate to jinx us. ;) His favorite word is DGN...which is really fun to say, by the way, three consonants in a row. TRY IT!! He also does say mamama, dadada, nanana and makes lots of sounds with his nose and mouth that I love to imitate. He's about 22 lbs and healthy! He still smiles like crazy and makes us laugh daily. The best medicine we could never buy. He's a good boy, that Jack!!! All of us are off to Florida for a week on March 16th. Wish us luck! Love to everyone. DGN! faith, al 'n jack
 NEW YEAR - 2009!
Hi everyone! I hope you enjoy the photos. Mommy says I look SO cute in them. Do I ? Well, I am a baby, after all. Cuteness is part of the deal...it helps when I am being a bit difficult. Anyway, I just thought you all should know that I am now clapping my hands, playing with games like my baby laptop...and I keep surprising my parents by standing up balancing for a few seconds all by myself. It's so cool. My doctor says I'm doing really well for 9 MONTHS OLD!!! Yay!!! I love you all, Jack Austin Barillaro
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM JACK!
Hi everyone, As you know, I am mostly just crawling and climbing and sucking on everything these days. My toys sit in the middle of my play area getting lonely. What can I say, I like to look around now...is that such a crime? Mommy even made up a song for me called "What's that? What's that? What's that?" Anyway, this is my first Christmas so I'm really excited to play with the wrapping paper and ribbons! That rocks! ;) I'm what you call a laptop baby, which means I like to sit on mommy's lap while she does work on the computer, and sometimes I reach over and type my own messages. So, while she was warming my bottle, I quickly typed this out... What I want for Christmas: ~ Easy zip up onesees. These are so easy for mommy when I wet myself and when mommy is happy, I am happy! ~ Cool developmental toys...no stuffed animals, please..I have a lot. What do I mean? Well, any toy which will help me with ACTIVE PLAY, like learning cause and effect, would be AWESOME! Hmmm, like...stacking blocks, balls, baby building blocks, shape sorters and nesting cups. { What are nesting cups? http://www.best-child-toys.com/nesting-cups.html } ~ My two front teeth! (I couldn't resist) But seriously...if they would just come in already I could stop DROOLING so much and biting everything, including mommy's arm. THAT'S ALL, FOLKS! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO MY BIG, WONDERFUL FAMILY! LOVE, JACK AUSTIN "KRINGLE" BARILLARO P.S. You might ask what I am giving YOU for Christmas. LOVE LOVE LOVE. ...and lots of SMILES, I never seem to run out!
HALLOWEEN 2008 11/2/2008 6:47 A.M.
Hope you all had fun on this very spooky day ! Yes, Jack was a teddy bear for his 1st Halloween. He sat on mommy's lap while she carved out and drew on a pumpkin at the annual family party in our apartment building... he also decided that this holiday was a perfect time to sit up by himself...no hands !! Jack was very sleepy when he was carried out to the car and driven up to Yonkers to see Nonna and Nonno...but felt much better by the time he arrived. He spent the night with N&N while the devil & rocker headed back home for some Halloween street revelry which can hardly be matched in anywhere but NYC...wish we had pix of the crazy array of costumes we witnessed. Please send us your costume pix if you have any.faithpilger@aol.com Hershey kisses to all, Xxx Hollywood Devil, Rocker and Teddybear
PRE-HOLIDAY GREETINGS! 10/1/2008 6:26 A.M.
Hi everyone... Happy Holidays now and coming up this season. I feel that these unpredictable times only reinforce the importance of appreciating the small miracles and the loving support of family. We are blessed. And how is the kiddo? Well... This Tuesday (today) Jack is 21 weeks old!!! He's cuter than ever and was a big star at Jill's baby shower this past weekend (which was absolutely wonderful, Debi!!!) Jack is getting stronger (and longer) each day. He is also very curious. He can now sometimes lift up his whole torso and hips in his pushups!!! He also has found an interesting mode of travel: inch-worming himself forward (and sometimes reverse) by shoving his head into the floor and using it for leverage. It is so awesome to see him discovering the world...and it is endlessly entertaining to watch daddy Al singing songs and making faces. He's really very good. ;) Oh yeh, and he's sleeping pretty regularly now. Yahoo! Love to you all, Faith, Al and Jack
SEPTEMBER 2008 9/17/2008 3:02 P.M. Hi y'all... Jack is growing up a little more each day...as you can see (click "photos" and go to photo album 7). He now rolls from back to belly very easily, pushes up very high in his "baby pushups" and has started to lift his hips up and bring his knees beneath him (did somebody say crawling???)... He is extremely alert and observant. He still smiles like crazy but is also teething so...well, you know. He sometimes sleeps very well now and other times...not so much. He has started to squeal, which, combined with the whimpering of teething can sometimes try our patience BUT he also makes lovely cooing noises and almost says "mum." He adores his entourage of admirers, from family to virtual strangers, and seems to like the camera as well. Now, when he is interested in something, he reaches out and grabs it!! (hand eye coordination has come a long way!) He sometimes giggles, mostly drools, and next week he will turn 5 MONTHS OLD (20 weeks) !!! We are looking forward to the next few months, including... ...crisp Autumn walks in the west village, dressing up for Halloween, a big Thanksgiving with the Barillaro family, another visit from Jack's great grandma Louise...and, of course, Christmas with my mom and pop who are coming to visit us here in NYC. Good times. Keep in touch and don't forget to vote! ;) Xxx Faith, Al and Jack
BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT! 5/10/2008 3:00 P.M.
Jack arrived at 2:19pm on Tuesday, May 6th (...almost on Cinco de Mayo.) 8 lbs, 4 oz and 20" long.
